Alan Perlstein

Founder, California Cultured

Alan Perlstein has over 20 years of experience in food tech and biotechnology, starting his career in a tiny cell-cultured fish lab in Long Island nearly two decades ago, back in the early days of cellular agriculture. He launched his first food tech company Oobli (formerly Joywell Foods, Miraculex), where he commercialized protein sweetened foods. When he saw tension brewing between the huge demand for chocolate and coffee and the sustainable/ethical issues surrounding these products, he knew he had to look towards something bigger and thus, California Cultured was born.
