Ms. Maria Katris

Co-Founder & CEO, Built In

Maria Katris is Co-Founder and CEO of Built In, a tech recruitment platform that attracts 3.4 million professionals monthly. For its 2,000 customers, which range from startups to companies in the Fortune 500, Built In puts the stories of employers in front of its user base of hard-to-reach tech candidates, helping companies fill their roles of the future.

In 2019, Maria and her team closed a $22 million Series C funding round led by Updata Partners with participation from MATH Venture Partners, which at the time was the largest funding round closed by a female CEO-led firm in Chicago history.

In 2021, Katris overcame the company’s most formidable challenge to date — the global shift to remote work — by leading an aggressive national expansion. In one year, she grew the company from serving eight U.S. markets to 80, positioning Built In to steal wallet share from major competitors. As a reflection of this commitment to growth, Built In has been recognized by two of the most prestigious honors for the “fastest-growing” companies: the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™ and Inc. Magazine's Fast 500.

Katris earned her BS from Miami University and MBA from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Crain’s named her on its “40 Under 40” list, and she sits on the advisory board of Miami University's Altman School of Entrepreneurship.
